Serene Chng’s first report for TRAFFIC! She is now working on wild animals traded for pets and fashion.

The Black Spotted Turtle Geoclemys hamiltonii is listed in Appendix I of CITES, which means all international trade in this species is illegal. In the report, over 1,960 animals were seized between January 2008 and March 2014. The report doesn’t include 230 turtles seized on May 14 after the report was written.
